Proud homeowner...

Okay, so technically Chris owns it...

We are moving in - getting our stuff from the movers, the fridge from Home Depot, the washer/dryer from Lowes...and various and sundry other stuffs!

It's going well - minus my extreme heartburn - I think everything finally caught up to my body and the lack of adrenalin has left a "burning" sensation. LOL.

Pray for Sheri - apparently, she missed me so bad that she let a Copperhead bite her, just to get me home for a visit...POOR SHERI!!! We love you and will be praying for you wholeheartedly, dear heart!!!

Happy and Homeless

for today! It's official, we do not reside at 329 Breckenridge Place any longer.

Today, Ollie and I are residing with my folks here in Rock Hill. Chris is residing in Kennesaw, and Emma is at the beach condo with Grandma Jane and Pa.

I cannot wait to have my family back under one roof, again -- did I say that already? We should all be in Acworth by Saturday, hopefully, with our stuff, too, but I'd just settle for my family all together. I can buy more stuff, right?

Moving, moving, moving...yee-haw!

Okay, so I'm boxed and ready to go. Tomorrow, the movers are a-comin'! It will be an all day affair for sure. I've canceled all our Comporium services (there was some fleshly pleasure in it --- bad, bad Jen --- I will lay it on the altar, I promise!!!) and made all the appropriate calls to the utility companies to cancel our services with them on closing day which is Wednesday!

Chris went and purchased my new 26 cubic foot dream - it's tall, dark and handsome --- my new side-by-side fridge!!! =) Soon, I'll even get to be the proud mother of twins --- a new washer/dryer, too! Oh, and did I mention, various and sundry other things...which if you know me, you know making large purchases goes against every fiber of my being --- and certain people are not allowed in the car with Chris and I anywhere Hames Music store...you know who you are and I know where you live...

But, really, and seriously, God is good and the "stuff" is just a tiny flicker compared to the flame God has fanned to our fannies in the last 2 months!!!

Final countdown...

and today, I will be "unplugged" - aaaaaggghhhhh! Yes, the electronic leash is loosed and I will roam this world seeking wi-fi's and what-not's. So, if you email me or think I'll email you...cross your fingers. =) I will be in touch!

Less than how many days???

This is the first installment of "less than how many more days?"

In less than 1/3 of a day (or 8 hours-for normal folks), Chris will be at Charlotte-Douglas Airport, headed home to help unpack, repack, and pack some more.

In less than 2 days, I will have my last official Sunday at FBCFM, tear-filled as it may be.

In less than 4 days, the movers will be here and we will be on the front side of this move, and will officially live with my parents, again.

In less than 5 days, I will sign the papers selling 329 Breckenridge Place to the new owners. We've lived here since February 2003 during initial first-throw-ups-stage of my pregnancy with Emma Grace...she was born Thursday, October 16, 2003 and we brought her home here on Saturday, October 18 - her actual due-date.

In less than 7 days, Chris will sign the papers buying 330 Hunt Creek Drive in Acworth, Georgia. We will be residents of Georgia and I will have my family back under one roof again and I cannot wait. Someone will be there when Ollie fusses at night - besides me. Someone will be there when Emma Grace freaks out over a bug - besides me. Someone will be there when I have a come-apart - besides me! Someone will have to unpack boxes - besides me!!!

Life Lesson Learned...

Have I mentioned how weird it is for me to be separated from Chris? I truly do understand the Biblical significance of two becoming one. Everything seems to be complicated and difficult or is just missing something when I try to complete it without Chris. I never realized just how much we are a part of each other. It's really like trying to function with part of yourself absent. To me, Miss Independent, that's a pretty cool God thing to recognize and experience. However, I have enjoyed the lack of stink in my presence due to his absence. ;P

Boxes, boxes and more boxes...

So, it may be on my headstone, she loved Jesus and could pack a mean box.

I am truly 100% sick of packing. There's not a ton left to do, but I am going to be so glad when it is done. Usually, cleaning and organizing would be on my list of fun things to do, but the novelty and sense of accomplishment has totally worn off now. Thankfully, my ladies group is coming Thursday night to help me and my parents and in-laws have been chipping in, too...But I am so ooooooooo ready to just load it on a truck and go!

Things seem to really be moving smoothly. I'll keep you posted on any bumps in the road. So far, here I'm just waiting for the contractor to make repairs from the home inspection - the funny thing is this guy is Chris's cousin and we didn't know it until after he came to give us the estimate. I'm going to do some POA stuff in the morning and gee, maybe I'll pack some more. Chris is finishing up his consulting gig in Concord, NH -- and no, they do not pronounce it like Concord, NC. He may be home soon! That would be an amen and hallelujah! In GA, our home inspection came back one of the cleanest reports our realtor has ever seen with only 3 minor things!!!

Today was a happy haircut day, too!!! Not too shabby for a Tuesday.

330 Hunt Creek Drive

We hope this will be our new address in Acworth, Georgia on the 29th of June.

HALLELUJAH!

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, mylanta! We have a closing date in Rock Hill and a closing date in Georgia. So, folks on Tuesday, June 26th my worldly goods will be stuck on a truck headed past the giant peach, so that on Wednesday my house will be sold in Rock Hill. Woo-hoody! We will close on our new place in Georgia on Friday, June 29th and hopefully, get our "crap" back by that Saturday to start fresh in our new home by the first of July! And I even get to pick out a new fridge and washer and dryer. I get permission to spend big money - I mean I'll allow our budget to spend big money on something new...ask Chris, it may be the fourth of July miracle.

So, no more griping today! It's Friday and Bubba is on his way home for at least 36 hours...life is nice.

Does everyone wait until Friday?

I have been trying my best to get our folks here in Rock Hill all lined up and it is just not happening. Does everyone wait until Friday just so they can't get done what you ask them to do? I think the answer must be yes. However, everything in Georgia is going well thanks to Chris and Myra. We have a closing date and time, a home inspector on his way this coming Tuesday (he was actually at VBS - like ours - when Chris called him this week, I'm taking that as a good sign!), we've got HOI covered and arranged along with new auto insurance at a great savings with our current carrier just in GA, waiting to order an appraisal with Aunt Gayle, and really it's chugging along.

I just need communication up here in Rock Thrill, funny, how things going on in Georgia are much easier and clearer than here...just ironic, isn't it?

But, we are moving along, literally. I have most closets packed, most cabinets packed, all our pics and art stuff, most cds and dvds, I discovered 3 Christmas trees in our attic (????), and various other crazy stuff like the Star Wars pic of Chris and I from WDW.

Hilarity!!!

Honey, I'm Home...

Well, we have a contract on a lovely little 2-story in Acworth, Georgia. All is going well and again I have to mention our fantastic realtor, Myra Brown, who is fantabulous! We should get to close here on Breckenridge on Wednesday, June 27th and close in Georgia on Friday, June 29th. PTL and Tammy Faye as my friends would say! So, it's real and it's really happening, folks. I'm picking up my sand bucket and moving to Georgia...who would have ever thunk it?

My little family will get to go to our wonderful church in Fort Mill one last time together this Sunday - Father's Day. It will certainly be bittersweet. Everything is right now - packing boxes, tying up loose ends, even paying bills is hitting me funny - it's just such a weird feeling.

Our love to all and we'll keep updating, so you can at least know what's shakin' and bakin' with the Nut House...

Hey, I may even get some pics put up once I get to Georgia, wouldn't that be amazin'?

Wishin' and Hopin' and Thinkin' and Prayin'

K - So, I'm getting slack for not posting...so week #3, here it goes.

This weekend, EG and I went to Kennesaw to see daddy. That is a stinkin' long drive when you leave Fort Mill after 3pm...we hit Charlotte rush hour from i-485 to Gastonia on i-85, then we hit Greenville rush hour at 5pm, so we stopped at California Dreaming (where Chris and I used to go on dates when he was at NGC and I was at CC), then we even hit Atlanta rush hour on i-85, i-285, and i-75...So, the weekend started with lots of waiting and anticipating. Emma did great! She is a good little traveler like her mommy was at that age. When we did get there, we met Chris at a chickalay right off i-75 and had milkshakes...it was so great to see him, even if we did leave our house 6 hours earlier!!! The normal ride down there is only 4 1/2 hours with Flying-J stop.

Our realtor, Myra Brown (Remax Around Atlanta) is just simply a gift from God - plain and simple! She took Emma and I all over Cobb county on Friday from 9:30 until 4:30! She even took us to a great BBQ place for lunch - her treat - what a lady!! Emma also did great at this, too. We found 1 property we liked Friday, but it was on a postage stamp lot in a very terraced neighborhood...so the kitchen window view was our neighbor's foundation and retaining wall. YUCK! I have learned a lot about Cobb county real estate in a 48 hour period. Since Friday yielded no promises, Myra and I hit the highway again on Saturday -- all day and found 2-3 more promising properties, but none sold us. By this point, I was as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs --- with sleeping dogs in the rocking chairs! I thought/prayed that the Lord would find me a house! So, Sunday morning after church, Myra showed us one more neighborhood - where she really wants us to be - her son and nephew live there - and I was in love! The neighborhood is a golf community called Bentwater in Acworth, Georgia and the house is a 2-story on a half-acre lot and I was sold. Thanks to Myra for not giving up on me!

So, we wrote a contract on our favorite, but it was hard to choose which one was the best! And now, we're waiting...

It feels like that is all I'm doing these days, waiting for these people to give me a contract, waiting for the people buying our house to give me a list from the home inspection of things to fix, waiting on the home inspector, waiting on the appraiser, waiting on our realtor here to call us back, waiting on the mailman, waiting on the UPS guy, waiting on a severe thunderstorm warning to end....

And we all know that I hate to wait...mmmmm, ironic, isn't it? There is a lesson here, isn't there?

So, if all keeps moving forward, waiting will be a memory and I'll be moving 100 mph like a toot in a whirlwind...so here we go...updates to come!!!

Week #2

Okay, so here we go again. Week #2 - so we'll see how it all goes this week. Last week I think I had 2 come-aparts including this morning at church...agh! I was supposed to sing Nichole Nordemann's "I Am" in both services and I didn't even make it through one. Find the lyrics to the song and if you know me, you'll know why I couldn't make it through...I'm just not as mean as I used to be, I guess. =) It turned out to be a nice Sunday even with the come-apart, we had a nice lunch just the four of us and then sent daddy off about 15 minutes ago.

So, I'll be knee deep in OCD and boxes this week as I anticipate the coming home inspection on Tuesday morning...then I think I may need a road trip, so we'll see how that goes.

All's pretty quiet here...minus my three year old and two month old...which are usually never quiet unless she's getting into something she shouldn't or he's making me a present in his britches. Did I mention that he is already 15 pounds and 25 inches??? He's nearly doubled his birth weight and has grown 3 inches since birth. What can I say, our gene pool makes big babies!
